nostaliga from the dirt pit makes a comeback (7/365)

Now, back in my day, I used to sing along to the Transformer theme song “Transformers – more than meets the eye.”  I loved the way in which the cars could transform so easily into robots, plus there was the good vs evil theme associated with it.

Too bad it no longer gets played, and you need to go to youtube to take a look at the original tv series just to watch it. I decided to dig out my transforming toy collection that I used to play with in the dirt pit beside the laundry window.

Plus eat the dirt too :)

taking out the trash & throwing out half the room (6/365)

Its amazing the amount of stuff that we horde over time. I was reminded when I was cleaning out my closet for Swap Til You Drop, and then once again when I has helping to clean J’s room. But then it seems like my cleaning experience only occurs once a year – so we’ll see when I do this next :)

General rule: if you haven’t looked at / touched it / read it / worn it in over 6 months, you never will. Are there any other general guides that you work by in terms of throwing out the trash? Or is there something that you’ve found which you have lost while cleaning your room?

pong bong mania (5/365)

And so last Friday was the Jay Chou Sydney concert at Acer Arena, Homebush. Being to my first ever live Asian concert (well, considering I understand about only 20% Chinese), it was actually quite enjoyable. 20,000 screaming fans, packed in one stadium, I’ve never been with so many Asians in my life.

Here’s a review of the concert (from @wonggreg): “awesome, with fire, fireworks, sexy dancers & a marriage proposal. Jay was witty & funny & the atmosphere was great.”

Part of the excitement was getting these pong bongs to play with – err I mean spur the performer on because obviously our hand clapping wasn’t loud enough. I’ve kept mine to play with but today they’ve kinda lost their air… but the excitement still lives on. I still have the Jay Chou cd’s spinning on repeat in the car, plus two more pong bongs still in their packets to play with on another day :)

Walking the dog… Before the rain came (4/365)

Its not everyday that I walk the dog. Even though I am supposed to. But I needed to pick up a parcel from the local post office because I had missed the postman. The sun was out, mildly warm, so I decided to take the dog for a walk.

Except the rain suddenly came when I got to the post office, so we both ended up drenched by the time we got back home.

the mourning of the greatest entertainer who ever lived (3/365)

The broadcast of Michael Jackson’s memorial service was held this morning at 3am (Australian time).

Marlon  Jackson: “We will never understand what he endured … being judged, ridiculed. How much pain can one take? Maybe, now, Michael, they will leave you alone.”

long lost brothers? (2/365)

We were at Seoul Ria celebrating a friend’s 18th, and we come across one of the waiters, which looked incredibly similar to one of the guests to the party. So, plucking up the courage I asked the waiter to come across to take a photo.

Other waiter: “What are you doing? Get back to wor – ohhh hahaha” * points and laughs* ”

Absolutely incredible :)

project 365

Thanks to Felicity, I now have another goal that I hope to complete this year :)

06.07.09 – the project 365 journey begins.

What is it?
Project 365 involves me taking (at least) one picture every day and posting it on this blog. You can read more about it here.

Why do something crazy like this?
I’m doing this for a few reasons. One - I’ll be able to actually recall what I get up to every day, every month, and the year. Two – I’ll try and record things which are not just special events eg birthday parties, celebrations etc, but rather treasuring each day as a gift from God, learning new experiences, and seeing different things which could otherwise be easily seen as a mundane ordinary day. Three – hopefully I’ll get better at taking photographs.

Seeing your life through pictures each day will show the things that you’ll learn, and see the things that occur throughout life (which we sometimes forget). Doing it stands to reason that you’ll eventually (hopefully!) get better at it!

How?
I’ll be taking pictures using my Canon IXUS 750, Canon 450d dslr or Nokia E71 camera phone. I’ll then be uploading them to this blog – so check back here and keep me accountable! ;) The full set of pics can be found at my flickr page.

If you’re also taking part in Project 365 I’d love to see how you’re doing! Please feel free to drop me a line!

So without further ado, I bring you ‘midday choc chip shortbread munchies‘, bought from The Biscuit Tree at The Good Food & Wine Show :) Firm, crisp feeling textured biscuits, crunchy and filled with chocolate pieces. Absolutely delicious and highly addictive – I’ve almost finished the pack!
